For The Win (Spruce Pinked)

Leave it to me to use such an awkward face for the first photo. Awwkkwaardd!!

Well anyway, enough of my awkward facial expressions and hello to the outfit of the day! I decided to take out my new Parfois booties for a spin on a regular work day, and it was really such a coincidence that I brought this trench-ish onesie to CDO that week. (I have quite the wardrobe problem with my living in two cities dilemma). I was perfectly happy with how the dress and the boots came together without much planning but I still couldn’t help but wonder how different this look would be with a pair of ultra sheer lavender stockings. hmmm. I’m dreaming again.

Accessories were kept to a minimum to keep the focus on the booties. I got this necklace from Forever 21 some time ago and they still look as good as new. I usually have a problem with costume jewellery as they tend to oxidize easy rendering them useless after a few months (or even weeks! insert sorrowful face here). But I guess Forever 21 has got me believing in costume jewellery again. (note to self: stock up on F21 accessories on the next Cebu/Manila visit!)

Aren’t these booties just diiiviiinneee?? I actually spotted these while styling Centrio Style Origin. Story was, Dirkie and I were rushing to arrange the shoes and accessories for the show and what do you know, these boots magically appear with an 800 peso price tag. 800 pesos for a pair of Parfois boots?!? It was just too good to be true! (insert priceless reaction of Dirkie and Stef). A couple of sleepless nights later, I found myself in Parfois, grabbing the pair, only to find it cost a lot more. HAHA. Well, I was too fixated to let these babies go now!

On a completely different note, guess what, I won the Spruce Pinked Nail Caviar challenge!!! Aagghh!! Eggzited much! Was beyond happy to find a message from Lai of Spruce congratulating me for winning the contest. It just so happened that I was leaving for Lanao the next day so I just haadd to rush right over to Spruce Limketkai to get my prize!

So many shoessiess to choose from!! It was seriously more of a challenge choosing which one to get @_@ See my intense concentration face here? Twas soo hard to decide!

In the end I decided to get the Ayana Black. Aren’t they super cutee? :D Plus I also got this Aztec bag in an absolutely juicy color! So Spruce! :) Outfit post with these babies soooonnn!!!

Thank you so much Spruce for the goodies! And a big shout out to everyone who voted/liked my photo!! I couldn’t have done it without you. <3 <3 <3 Sending out love to everyone! And as my way of giving back, I’m telling you all to rush on over to Spruce’s main branch in Chavez St near Cepalco because they’re having this huge sale from June 13-15th. I’d probably drop by if I can’t contain myself from this incredible urge to grab goodies at 70% off! @_@

What do you think about my Spruce Pinked choice? :D Which pair would you get?

Trench dress  and Accessories from Forever 21, Boots from Parfois, Bag from Mango, Watch from Citizen

The Power Corp.

I can’t believe summer is over and half the year is gone! @_@ Time seems to be flying by so fast, and I wonder why it’s so incredibly speedy now that I’m in my 20′s. Time used to be much slower especially when I was in school and Mondays to Fridays was such a long stretch. Well, they do say time flies when you’re having fun, so I guess that means I’m having a ball.

I’d have to say though that this summer was a summer of firsts. I got my first chance to style a photoshoot for CGY magazine (photos when the issue comes out!), my first time to style a fashion show (and it was Centrio Style Origin of all!), and I was also able to book my first ever paid speaking engagement with no other than National Power Corp. I still get kilig over the thought of all these new ventures :3 :3

For this event, I decided to wear dark colors to project a more mature image. Our audience were engineers, some of which were probably double my age (hehe) so I definitely had to act and dress mature for them to actually believe my presentation! :) I also decided to pair this absolutely gorgeous burgundy dress from Zara with some nude pumps and gold and black accessories to finish the look.

Here are a few photos from the event. Good thing I was able to capture the engineers in their “Gwiyomi” moment. lol. For those of you who are wondering, the seminar we conducted was one on Basic Public Speaking. We were specially requested by the engineers of National Power Corp to help them improve their speaking and communication skills. For companies and organizations who are interested in booking our group, feel free to send me an email at stefanieuy@gmail.com. We may be young, but hey, we’re actually a group of speaking champions ;) (whaaat?? I’m marketing here! haha.)

Cheers to more opportunities and an overly abundant life! :) Special thanks to my mom who bought this dress for me. I swear her taste is getting better and better everytime. heehee.

Let’s Talk About the Weather

The weather’s been crazy here lately. (yes, we’re talking about the weather. It’s come to that.) Scorching hot in the mornings, and intense rain in the afternoon. I hate it when the world acts this way. It makes dressing so difficult. :( If you’ve been having similar problems here’s a little solution that I came up with.

Tip #1:  Throw on a sweater that offers good coverage, but is light enough to carry. In the oven toaster mornings, you can do without the sweater, and just easily slip it on when the clouds come rolling in.

Tip #2 Wear a cottony top since cotton allows for quick evaporation. The less sweat, the better!

Tip #3: Take it up a notch and go for a bare back! Cut out tops are a great choice since it helps battle the stuffiness. Plus, there’s that added element of sexyness to your outfit.

Tip #4: Be mindful of the footwear. Sneakers are somewhat a good choice, they’re functional in the heat and can protect your feet from dirty rain water. I wore delicate sandals once in this crazy weather, and it ended up getting soaked and destroyed. Poo!

Do you have an crazy weather dressing tips? Feel free to share below! :)

Stealing from my family members’ closets again. Teehee. Oversized Zara Men sweater from my brother in law Gab, Backless top from my sister Diane, Teal skirt from Forever 21

Style Origin: Ayala Centrio Mall

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since my last post but if you’ve been following the blog through Instagram or Facebook, you’d know how busy my past week has been! Last saturday, Ayala Centrio Mall held one of its biggest fashion shows yet – Style Origin 2013. The show was directed by no other than Robby Carmona, with participating stores such as Artwork, Bettina, Bench, Bambu, Folded & Hung, Jockey, Promod, Parfois, Puma, Mags, Mendrez, Robinson’s Department Store, Rockport, Sperry Topsider, Spruce, and What A Girl Wants! Phew! That’s a lot!

And guess what, yours truly was invited to be one of the stylists of this prestigious show. I couldn’t believe my luck when Mikko of CGY Magazine called me up and told me the news! Before I get to the photos of the show, allow me to flaunt my outfit for the day (hey, this wouldn’t be a fashion blog without an outfit post would it? humor me. heehee.)

An outfit such as this warrants the use of sky high heels, but hey if you’re a stylist, heels are an absolute no-no! We’re running around almost all the time, so flats are definitely a must. Good thing I had just stocked up on this absolutely gorgeous pair of Spruce Pinked sandals (got them for less than 400 bucks!), and the gold detail just made the outfit look put together despite the lack of height this outfit demanded.

Oh and don’t you just love the gold lamé detail on this royal blue top? I got it from Spruce too. Gosh, I feel so Spruce sponsored (i wish!).

Enough of the outfit and on to the awaited photos! Just in case you’re wondering, I wasn’t the only one styling this show (I’d die if that were the case). I had two amazing stylists with me, Dirkie Dabbay, a prominent fashion designer and former teacher at FIP, and Mikko Mahinay, the Editor in Chief of CGY Magazine. I learned soo much from these guys and I suddenly feel like I can burst out in styling tips. Lol.

So annywayyy… on to the photos!

Artwork (the guys were exclusively styled by me! proud naman)

Folded & Hung

Promod x Parfois

Spruce

WAGW x Mendrez

Rockport

Mags (trivia: Mags was the only shop that had their own stylists, make up artists and models!)

Bettina

Sperry Topsider

Robinson’s Department Store x Mendrez

The show wouldn’t be complete without some celebrity guests now would it? Phoemela Baranda opened the show as the host, while Julia Barretto walked the runway as the exclusive model for Bench. Phoem is one of those natural mestiza beauties, and I daresay her true beauty shines more without makeup. Julia looks exactly like she does on photos, absolutely gorgeoouss!! (trivia: Julia was styled by Dirkie, and I guess Aaliyah can take some credit for choosing the pants heehee.)

There were so many things I learned from this experience and I’ll probably lay it all out in another post (styling tips post maybe? yes? no?). But most importantly, I made new friends, established new connections, harnessed brain/memory power by memorizing all 37 models (lol), developed whatever styling prowess I have, and just altogether had a great time racing around the mall for three straight days. haha. Now, back to the normal life!

Loads of thanks to Kuya Mark Pagaspas for the exceptional photos ;-) BTS photos in my facebook page and Instagram! Feeling close much with the stars. lol. How did you like our styling? :)

PS. I’m missing out on a few brands such as Jockey and Puma, but it’s now almost 3 in the morning and my eyes are drooping. roar.

Imperial Sun

Hello loves! This is the last instalment of my Toastmasters District Conference 2013, and why not leave it with some color blocking? Though this bold trend has been around for quite some time, I guess I never really got to try it. Too bad I forgot to carry my equally bright purple bag, I think it would’ve contributed greatly to the look.

Alquin and I were so in a hurry to take these photos because we had just been invited to take a swim with some of our friends from Bacolod. Since their flight was going to be in a few hours, we just had to rush into the whole shoot (umm 3 minutes tops?!) So I do apologize if I wasn’t able to go into the specifics. hee. Thank goodness the blueness of the pool just instantly added contrast to the photos!

Since I’m somewhat devoid of outfit shots, I’m leaving you with a couple of photos I took from the whole discon experience. I have to say it was the best so far, with an amazing line up of festive presentations (as you can see below!), great speakers, luxurious venue and food and impeccable organization. Although more fellowship time might have made the experience even better :)

Oh and by the way, I actually competed this year in the impromptu speaking category! :) I’m so privileged to represent Division F (Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Butuan). Although I didn’t make it this year, it was so heart warming to be approached by random people in the conference, telling me I was their bet, or I was their champion. No worries you can bet I’ll be back again in 2 years! :D

And below is District 75′s prepared speech winner, Johnny Uy (the dad of Kryz Uy!). Would you believe he was also the International President of Toastmasters International? His speech was about how people thought he was “crazy” for joining a speech contest, after all, he had everything to lose and nothing to gain. Well, I guess his non-believers were pretty much proved wrong, since he gained the elusive Speech champion title. Go for the win in the International Arena Sir Pawe! :)

With our current District Governor, Grace Paras, and Past International President now Speech Champion Johnny “Pawe” Uy, and uhm, Stefanie Uy. haha.

For those of you who are interested in learning how to improve your public speaking and leadership skills, I would like to invite you to join our meetings in Iligan Toastmasters Club every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, 6pm, at JY Dimsum. We also have meetings in Cagayan de Oro during Wednesdays at Thai Me Up Capistrano :)

What do you think about my look? Would you try color blocking? :)
